Lists

Lately it seems I am making several lists. I am making list for Kenya. Things we need to pack, things we to buy before we leave, things that will need to be done at the house. I am making list for work, lists for others to do while I am out, list to be done before I leave. I am find myself making list of lists I need to do.

Well the lists have been overwhelming. Last night, I needed a break. Mu wonderful hubby took me on a mid week date! Did you know we have a Doc Greens on the West Side now!!! I am excited! We went to see Night at the Museum. Funny movie. He even then took me for ice cream. It was a nice break before I have to go back to the lists.

Tonight, I will check more things off the lists. Janel, Liz, Rob and I are going shopping for our Kenya stuff. We are also picking up items for the Hurd's to take to them in Kenya. Oh, I will have two lists completed after tonight!!

So do you have a list this week to do? Anything fun on the lists? Remember not to get too busy to have some fun. A mid week date, being with friends, enjoying God's blessings. I am thankful today there was a little sunshine! Hmmm... maybe I should add to the list.... enjoy the little things!

A few pictures from the weekend in Sikeston!

This is a scarey picture of Rob and I goofing off in the air. Thank goodness for autopilot!

Uncle Rob took Joyce, Molly Claire and myself up over Sikeston on Sunday!

This was Molly Claire's first time flying!

When we were watching Molly Claire at the Methodist Church, there was a den of foxes under the storage shed. They are so cute!

Molly Claire riding her scooter to raise money for St Jude's.

Frannie, Jamie, Dottie, Molly Claire at the park on Saturday! I can't believe how fast they grow up. We are blessed with such wonderful nieces!

We had a wonderful time with our family in Sikeston!

Frannie's Graduation Day!

I can remember the day Frannie was born. Now she is 18 and graduated from Notre Dame High School.

Frannie has had the misfortune all her life people telling her she looks like me. Well,in some ways she does, but I think she is way more beautiful than I could ever dream of being at her age. Frannie is my oldest niece. She was born two days after my 18th birthday. Oops, I just aged myself. I am so very proud of her.

Aunt Moz, Frannie and Dad (Frannie's grandpa)

Frannie trying to be taller than me after graduation.

Frannie after receiving her diploma. When I asked her why she didn't smile big, she said she tripped on the steps. No one saw it. I guess her gracefulness is after her mom and me.

Congrats, Frannie Beth Turner! We love you and we are so proud of you!

The adventures of RiverFest 09!

River Fest was last week in Wichita! The river was too high for the bathtub races this year but there were still plenty to do. Most people go to listen to the bands, ride the rides, watch the parade, and see the fireworks. Not the Youngs....... we go for the FOOD!
Everything you can imagine is on a stick, chicken, pronto pups, apples, shrimp ect. You can get huge turkey legs, log of potatoes, gyro, philly steak sandwiches (which are good but not even close to the real thing) and FUNNEL CAKES!

Rob and I may have to schedule an angioplasty to declog the arteries from eating at River Fest three nights.

We went Friday night since we had to be downtown to pick up Krista at life guarding classes. Then we had to take Krista on Saturday night after church so she could get some carny food.

Rob devouring a turkey leg!

Krista trying to consume Rob's turkey leg!

Krista eating a potato log on a steeck, well on a fork!

On Monday night, we went to listen to The Good Guys sing! They did a good job!

We were able to hang out with Doug and Angela, and Amanda! Angela's family was sitting in front of us since her dad is one of The Good Guys! He has an awesome voice!

Awwww River Fest, how I love thee but my hips hate thee!

The adventures of the Man Date!

The weekend before last was the Man Date! Phil, Doug and Rob went to the Salt Museum in Hutchison, Kansas. The Men were suppose to let us ladies go with them but we found other things to do! I made sure Krista was picked up at Lifeguard classes and had time to kill so I went shopping! When the men are away, the women shop!

Phil, Doug and Rob in the salt mine.

All three men are engineers, also Doug serves our country as a Captain in the Air Force flying the big refueling tankers. Phil and Hubby are engineers at Cessna. I would have loved to hear their conversations but I am sure it was about flying and building airplanes, photography and more aviation stuff!

According to my husband, they had a personal tour just the three of them. The guide made sure they were up close enough to take pictures. Did I tell you that Doug and Rob are really into photography?

A little history about Kansas Underground Museum. It is a salt museum 650 ft under ground. You have to take an elevator down. You explore the mine by little carts. They also store old films from Hollywood for protection since it is a control climate. They also display Hollywood memorabilia. Another reason I did not want to go: there is only one way in and out. I have seen too many shows with the mines collapsing. Yes, I will cluck now. I am a chicken.

My hubby took some nice pictures to share.

The candy bars from the Willy Wonka movie! Yum chocolate!

Doug looking at the large computer.

At the end of the tour, you are welcome to fill a little bag full of the salt! When hubby showed me the salt crystal, I licked it!

A great time was had by all! I didn't spend too much money!

God is Good!

At 3:57am today, the hail began hitting the windows so hard, I thought they were going to break. The winds started to pick up about 4:36am. I could not sleep and I was restless. I kept listening for the tornado sirens to go off. This is Kansas and we do have a few tornadoes every now and then. I was upset it was storming. I just wanted to go back to sleep. When I finally went back to sleep, the alarm went off.

So today I am dragging and a little cranky. Just rather be in bed than working. When I was out at lunch, the weather was beautiful. Not 5 hours ago, it was hailing, wind was blowing and really stormy. But the sun was shining now and it was warm. I felt better with the warm sun beaming on me.

It made me think about the past couple of weeks. I have been worried about something. I know, we are not suppose to worry but pray. Trust me, I have been praying for two major things the last three weeks. I decided earlier in the week I have to leave it at the cross and not pick it back up. I did finally let it go. One of those prayers was answered on Tuesday, the other was answered at 11:40 am today. PTL!

Worry is like a bad thunderstorm with straight line winds. The hail and winds destroy things in its path. Worry ,little but little, destroys your walk with God. Worry makes you doubt and lose faith. God is there even in the storms and He will take care of you. When you let go of your fears and stop worrying, its like the warm Son around you. There will always be storms and winds but if you keep looking at the Son, you can get through it!

Thank the Lord for answered prayers! God is good all the time!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is Sunday. We thought we would share a few pictures of the special women in our lives.

I'm (Rob) very blessed to have been raised by a Godly woman who helped me learn to be a man after God's own heart.
I (Heather) am very grateful to have a mother in law who is a loving Christian woman! She raised an amazing man!

My dear Aunt Moz! She is an angel! When my mom became ill with a brain tumor, Uncle Bud and Aunt Moz moved from Florida to Sikeston to help my dad with us kids! She is also one of my closest friends. I thank God daily for her!

Happy Mother's Day!

The adventures of Plan B

This should have been the blog of the camping trip with the Parks! Well we live in Kansas. The weather was way too unpredictable so we were forced to do Plan B.

Plan B ended up being Thrift Store Prom and Crown Uptown dinner theater.

The singles group at Central Christian, Pathways, hosted a fundraiser for their El Salvador Missions trip. Thrift Store Prom was meant to come dressed up in ugly prom clothes. The hairstyle pretty much consist of 80s hairstyle. I forgot how much hairspray we used back then. Rob and I went to Goodwill to purchase our prom clothes.

The ladies looked awesome!

The men didn't look too bad either!

Since we couldn't go camping with the Parks, we all went to the Crown Uptown dinner theater. We had a great meal and saw Smoke on the Mountain. It was very entertaining with bluegrass music and sign language.

Shawna wanted to take the palm trees home for their back yard!

Notice the glazed look in our eyes! We all had too much to eat!

Plan B ended up being a great weekend!

LOVE WICHITA

Last weekend we helped with Love Wichita. 27 churches, 3700 people cleaning up Wichita and just helping out our neighbors. We were showing God's love!
Janel, Rob and I were at Camp Hiawatha. We were priming and painting a pool house wall.

We were painting with other people from Central Christian Church. Darren is our new friend. He is a sophomore in high school and is a really cool young man.

Darren even let me paint on him when we were taking a break. He was a good sport!

Of course,Rob was responsible for all the high spots!

Janel and I were in charge of painting the lower spots!

It was a blessing to be apart of Love Wichita!!!
